What do you get when you team up a charitable organization, a local brewery, a food vendor, and a local theatre? You get an incredibly fun fundraising event that raised around $25,000 for the Big Brothers Big Sisters representing Lyon County Kansas.

The Brews and Bites fundraising idea is perfect for any group, club, or organization that caters to adults young and old, and wants to build some local community awareness. People love attending fun charitable events, especially when beer is involved. Although we absolutely love the catchy name they gave this fundraiser, you have the option to call it anything you want. The basic idea is to create a social event that includes beer sampling and food tasting from local breweries and restaurants. Food trucks also work great, and most will donate a portion of their proceeds to your group. You’ll also want to get some live music and incorporate some other fun fundraising activities such as a silent auction. If you plan on having a large-scale event, you should be able to attract some sponsors as well.

Be sure to contact your local city or county for any needed permits. You’ll want to start promoting this event at least 2-months in advance. Place posters all over town, contact your local media, and be sure to create some clever social media posts.
