But here’s the perplexing question. How is it that ghosts are able to speak any language or do anything that requires thought or cerebral activity? Dead people have no brain function, and no brain function means no seeing, no hearing, no anything. In order to believe that spirits may have intelligence and the ability to communicate, one would have to believe that our souls are capable of taking over where the brain left off. Are they? We’ll probably never know. This is often the point where science and religion collide. If our souls are indeed capable of thought, awareness, and reason, and it’s our souls that people see as spirits, then it would make sense that our souls are capable of communication in any language. Language after all, is a function of the brain, and our souls would no longer be limited to what was stored in our brain.

Can Spirits and Ghosts Understand or Speak Multiple Languages?
This is a great question, and nobody really knows for sure. Usually, during ghost hunting investigations, the paranormal investigators will attempt to make contact with a spirit using the native language of the country that they are investigating in, making the assumption that the spirit or entity will be able to understand them. It’s a logical assumption that any ghost who may be haunting a building, would have been from the area and spoke the native language.
The only way to test the theory that ghosts or spirits can speak and understand multiple languages is to ask them. If you are on a paranormal investigation and getting responses to your questions from an intelligent spirit, ask the same question in multiple languages and see what kind of responses you get. Easier said than done, since the majority of investigations (or legitimate investigations) rarely yield any responses to direct questions. Buy hey, it’s worth a try.
