Chair Yoga for Seniors
Chair yoga can be a fantastic way for seniors with limited mobility to get many of the health benefits that yoga offers without being overly strenuous on the body. The practice of chair yoga was developed by Lakshmi Voelker-Binder in 1982 as a way to assist those who were unable to benefit from traditional methods of physical activity due to age or limiting physical condition.

Increase Balance and Flexibility
Chair yoga involves yoga poses and other elements of yoga such as meditation and breathing techniques that can all be done while sitting in a chair or using a chair for balance. Practicing chair yoga on a regular basis has been known to increase balance and flexibility, improve muscle tone and strength, help with chronic health conditions, and improve overall mental health and well-being in seniors.
