Putting together some hikes for the local community to partake in can be a great way to generate some revenue for your club or organization. The great thing about hiking is that you can schedule these events frequently and focus on hiking different areas each time. You should also be able to find a large number of people willing to participate. Eventually, you’ll have enough regulars and will be able to turn your hiking events in to a hiking club benefiting your group or organization.
Keep the hikes simple and find someone who is knowledgeable about the area you plan to hike, so they can lead the group and provide some interesting facts about the area. Keep a large supply of water bottles on hand for anyone who forgets to bring their own.
Make sure you have participants sign waivers and request a reasonable donation for participation. You can even come up with a creative name and logo for your hiking club and sell t-shirts. You’ll want to start promoting your first group hike at least 1-month in advance. Be sure to promote heavily on all your social media channels. Also, create some fun and creative posters and flyers that you can place throughout the community.
