A fun Halloween fundraising idea is to create a contest where participants create miniature haunted Halloween villages using only homemade items and items found in nature. Everyone must set up their ghoulish display on a standard square board (plywood, etc.) about 4’ x 4’ (or whatever you’ll have room for). Allow the use of battery operated low voltage lights. You will need access to a facility large enough to hold all of the finished displays.

Allow people 1 to 2 weeks to work on their projects at home and then give them a day to set up their display pieces on their boards inside your facility. Once the deadline has been met and all villages have been set up, invite the public to view the displays (request donations for admission) and vote on which ones they like best. You can set up different award categories like scariest village, best use of lights, most authentic village, etc. You can keep the displays viewable for the public for as long as you have the facility (from 1-day to 1-month). This is a fundraiser that you can do every October to get people into the Halloween spirit. And each year, your displays will get better and better as word gets out. Get local sponsors to generate even more revenue for your club, group or organization.

You’ll want to start promoting this fundraiser at least 3-months in advance. Be sure to promote heavily on all your social media channels. Also, create posters and flyers that you can place throughout the community.
