Is There a Connection Between Ghosts and Limestone?

Yes there is, according to numerous ghost hunting experts and members of the paranormal community. Buildings located near limestone deposits seem to have a higher level of paranormal activity. But is this a true statement? Does limestone really have paranormal properties? Or is it just a coincidence that some reported haunted hot spots just happen to be near limestone.

When you think about it, there are a lot more instances of haunted houses that have a carton of milk or orange juice in the refrigerator. Should we then assume that milk and orange juice have the potential to call out spirits? No. So why do so many people believe that limestone has special spirit producing properties?

Many in the paranormal community believe that limestone has the ability to absorb and release electromagnetic and psychic energies. They believe that limestone can record traumatic events from history and play them back. This would be a type a residual haunting.

Let’s take a look at the science. Limestone is a rock that is predominantly formed from the accumulation of organic remains (such as shells or coral). The rock is primarily composed of calcium carbonate, which is a type of calcium salt.

Science tells us that limestone releases carbon into the air, but it’s not much of a conductor of electricity. Limestone does store thermal energy from the sun, as do most rocks. But is there any evidence to suggest that limestone can produce electromagnetic waves or psychic energy?

Nope. Sorry to say that there is no evidence to suggest that limestone is a conduit for paranormal activity any more than a piece of wood would be a conduit for paranormal activity.

We don’t suggest spending too much time on your next ghost hunting adventure seeking out nearby limestone deposits. But if you happen to find one nearby and catch a spirit on camera, then be sure to also check out the fridge to rule out any cartons of milk or orange juice as the potential spirit source!
