Everyone loves to play mini-golf and it’s an activity that appeals to all age groups so why not create your own miniature golf tournament fundraiser? Just like a regular golf tournament, teams compete against each other to see who comes up with the best overall combined score.
Form teams of 2, 3 or 4 people and add up the total team score at the end of every hole. The team with the lowest overall score wins the tournament. Or, you can just have everyone play solo. You will need to have a volunteer attendant placed at each hole to make sure there is no cheating. You can create different divisions to make things fair. For example, you don’t want a team with 3 young kids playing against a group with 3 adults or teens. You can add more fun to the tournament by awarding bonus prizes for the person or team shooting the most hole-in-ones or for getting a hole-in-one on a particular hole.
Of course you can’t have a miniature golf tournament without a facility to play at, so start talking with local course owners and see what type of group discounts they offer or what it would cost to rent out the facility for a half-day. Find local sponsors to donate prizes and charge each team or person an entry fee. Just make sure that you cover all your costs with the entry fee and generate enough profit to make the event worthwhile. For example, if you get charged $10 per person, make the entry fee $20 per person (50 people would generate $500 in revenue for your club, group or organization). Some party rental companies also rent portable miniature golf courses which they can deliver right to your desired location.
You’ll want to start promoting this fundraiser at least 1-month in advance. Be sure to promote heavily on all your social media channels. Also, create posters and flyers that you can place throughout the community.
