Everyone’s heard about the famous Gunfight at the O.K. Corral, but very few people know about the soon to be famous ‘Mud Fight at the O.K. Corral’ that you’re about to organize. That’s right, it’s time to show your city or town what you’re made of.

This super fun and somewhat unique fundraiser idea is sure to drum up a lot of excitement and anticipation. The idea is to create a giant mud pit and allow participants to throw mud at each other in return for a donation to your cause. All you need is a large area of rock-free dirt and lots of water. You may want to rope off the mud pit area as well.

There are a number of ways that you can add some extra excitement to your event. You can stick a community leader, teacher, athlete, etc. in the middle of the pit and have people give a donation to scoop up some mud and launch it towards the victim. You can have teams enter the pit and go at it. You can have a few zombie mud monsters in the pit whose job it is to attack anyone who dares to enter. Or you can just make it a free for all.

Be sure to have a hose off area, some towels, and a place for participants to change into some dry clothes. This type of fundraiser works best May through September. You should have no problem finding one or more local businesses to sponsor your event.

Be sure to contact your local city or county for any needed permits. You’ll want to start promoting this event at least 2-months in advance. Place posters all over town, contact your local media, and be sure to create some clever social media posts.
