Been there, done that. Who hasn’t attended a spaghetti dinner for their local church, club or organization? It’s a tried and true way to raise funds for any charitable organization. But let’s face it, on the excitement meter, a spaghetti dinner fundraiser barely scores a 1 or 2. But just because you host one, doesn’t mean it has to be boring!
Try mixing things up a bit. Get with the times. Add a little zest to your spaghetti fundraiser. There are a number of things you can do to add some interest and excitement to your fundraising event. You can invite participants to create their own special sauces. Or hit your local whole foods or gourmet store and purchase a variety of unique pasta sauces for people to try. There a plenty of gourmet sauces to be had. Take advantage of the numerous varieties of pasta available (spaghetti can get lonely too). And let’s not forget about the garlic bread. Think up some new garlic bread creations by using different types of bread combined with different toppings (spices, cheeses, herbs, etc.).
If you prefer to keep your spaghetti dinner fundraiser a little more traditional, you can still add some fun by having a spaghetti slurping contest for the kids (or adults if you prefer – dads will go crazy over it). Or you can set aside some cooked (no sauce) spaghetti which you can use to create a special spaghetti art contest.
There are hundreds of ways you can add some excitement to a traditional spaghetti dinner. Just use your “noodle” and think about what would work best for your organization.
