Fundraiser helps county Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ventura County

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ventura County hosted their successful signature fundraiser titled Bags, Bling and Bubbly. The 11th annual champagne luncheon raised $189,000 and more than 300 guests attended the event. The afternoon featured an array of new, designer and vintage handbags as well as jewelry, accessories and experiences available for purchase or by auction. BYU holds one of the most successful campus-wide fundraising efforts in years.

The food drive brought in a grand total of $46,756.27 to donate to the Community Action Services and Food Bank in Provo. The food drive is a yearly joint effort between BYU and UVU student alumni associations. It’s the largest food drive Community Action Services and Food Bank receive each year. Shelter raising money by hosting a "Coldest Night of the Year" event

The Coldest Night of the Year is a family-friendly walk that raises money for charities serving hungry, homeless, and hurting people. The Lighthouse Soup Kitchen and Shelter is hoping the record-breaking fundraising trend will continue with this year’s Coldest Night of the Year.

United Way of Deschutes County hosts successful "over the edge" fundraiser

The United way came up with a clever a fundraiser in which community members rappelled off the roof of downtown Bend’s Oxford Hotel to raise funds for the community. During the event, 30 individuals scaled the seven stories and 70 feet down the side of Central Oregon’s tallest building while Ground Party festivities took place in the streets below. Student Finds clever way to raise almost $10,000 for pediatric cancer charity

A 16-year-old high school junior wanted to do something to help a local nonprofit that funds pediatric cancer trials and helps families battling the disease.

With Halloween approaching, he had the idea to hand out collection cans to the town’s young trick-or-treaters to take with them while they were collecting candy, so they could “boo against cancer.” The effort raised $9,322. Read more about this successful fundraiser. 

Photographer helps raise more than $4,000 for a local humane society

A  dog lover had the idea to make calendars to help raise funds for a local animal shelter. She solicited local companies to purchase $50 business card-size ads for the calendars and recruited local photographers to contribute beautiful photos.

The calendars sell for $10 each and are available at several area businesses. The money will be used to spay and neuter dog pound dogs, for puppy fostering costs, and emergency help. Read more about this successful fundraiser.

The 'Big Hair Ball' is proving to be a BIG success

The Big Hair Ball fundraiser, presented by the Guild and the Junior Guild of Family Service of Greensboro includes a cocktail reception followed by a runway fashion show featuring “big hairdos and outré outfits” created by local and student designers moving to techno music. Multiple awards given for best fashion. Last year’s Big Hair Ball raised more than $315,000, with over 1,100 people in attendance. Read more about this successful fundraiser. 

School music program supporters "flock" homes to raise close to $3,500

Think pink flamingos and you’ll get the idea as to how this fundraiser works. A resident pays the Boosters to send a flock to a friend’s yard, and then that friend is invited to “pay it forward” by sending the birds to someone else’s yard, etc. The birds stay on each lawn for a day before they are removed later that night. The size of the flock depends on the amount of the donation. A small flock of 12 flamingos costs $15 and goes all the way up to a super-sized flock of 60 flamingos for $60. Disability charity raises 123K in lip sync battle event

Sponsorships, team fundraising and ticket sales lead to Puzzle Pieces’ (charity) largest amount raised from the Lip Sync Battle event, beating the previous year’s total of $74,000. A total of 10 teams participated in the event which brought in 2,000 attendees. All teams used unique fundraising approaches, including the 11 nurses and staff members from Maternity Services, who brought in high-dollar items from regional businesses for auction which raised more than $12,000 for Puzzle Pieces.
