Union Depot Building
The Union Depot building in Pueblo, Colorado, is said to be haunted by several spirits including that of a ghostly conductor who died there in a train accident. The basement of the building, where the old jail cells used to be, is said to be particularly haunted. The Rosemount Museum
The Rosemount Museum has been the subject of reported hauntings in Pueblo for many years. Built in 1893, this 37-room mansion was home to the John A. and Margaret Thatcher family and was named for Mrs. Thatcher’s favorite flower. Visitors and staff members have reported seeing apparitions and experiencing unexplained phenomena inside the historic mansion. Some of the most commonly reported incidents include footsteps and voices heard when no one else is around, doors opening and closing on their own, and items moving without explanation. There have also been reports of cold spots and sudden drops in temperature in certain areas of the house. Many people believe that the hauntings may be connected to the tragic history of the house, including the deaths of several family members. Despite the reported paranormal activity, the Rosemount Museum remains a popular destination for history buffs and architecture enthusiasts.
Pioneer Cemetery
The Pioneer Cemetery in Pueblo, Colorado, is no stranger to reported hauntings and ghostly sightings. Visitors have reported seeing a black mist, hearing whispers, footsteps, and eerie laughter. Pueblo Central High School
Pueblo Central High School has been reported to be haunted by numerous eyewitnesses. Central first opened in 1881, and in 1886 graduated its first class of nine students. People have claimed to see a mysterious blue mist, the apparition of a woman sitting down in the school’s auditorium, as if waiting for her child to finish performing, the sounds of children talking and laughing, the sound of footsteps when nobody was around to make them, and much more. Many speculate that the ghostly spirit of a former student or faculty member still roams the halls of the school, unable to move on from their past.
The Pueblo Fire Museum
The Pueblo Fire Museum is located in the old firehouse which was built in 1895. This museum is a popular destination for paranormal groups and explorers. The building was featured in “In Search of the Paranormal,” a book written by Colorado firefighter-paramedic Richard Estep. According the the Pueblo Chieftain Newspaper, In 2005, a replica of a vintage fire engine was left idling outside. The vehicle began moving, and according to eyewitnesses, it made several turns and movements — all with no driver visible. There are also reports of a strange fog that covers an upstairs window where a handprint can be seen.
Former Rendezvous Restaurant
Although the restaurant is no longer open, the building of the former Rendezvous Restaurant is believed to be haunted by the spirit of a young boy. Local legend says the boy died when he fell off the balcony long ago. People have claimed to see the boy running along the balcony and leaping off. The apparition of a woman has also been seen here.
The Honor Farm
The “Honor Farm” was part of the Colorado State Insane Asylum during the early days. Dairy and other agricultural operations were conducted by patients as a function of the hospital back in the late 1800’s. The farm is no longer there, but reports are that the spirits still are. Unexplained mists, voices, orbs and other paranormal activity have been reported by various witnesses and investigators.
