No matter where you live or what you are raising funds for, you can always host a fundraiser designed to not only raise funds for your group, but to help out the environment as well by cleaning up your community. Volunteers are always ready and willing to lend a helping hand to do some good in the community.
All you need to do to get the process started is to contact your local city officials and offer your clean-up services in exchange for a donation to your non-profit organization. You can contact local business and building owners as well. Just look around town for areas that may be in need of a sprucing up and contact the owner. If the area happens to be a local park, street or waterfront area, contact the city. If you want to dig deeper, you can also look for homes and yards that need sprucing up and contact the homeowner. There should be no end to the available projects.
You can turn this into an ongoing fundraising program as well. All you need is a group of ready and willing volunteers, lots of garbage bags and barrels, gloves for the workers, clean up tools and equipment such as leaf blowers, lawn mowers, trimming tools, etc. And make sure you have someone who can haul everything to the dump. Also, make sure you have proper insurance coverage. Have t-shirts designed for your volunteer crew.
