Manifesting as it relates to ghost hunting and paranormal investigations is when the ghost or spirit decides to show itself or make itself known in one form or another. Manifestation generally relates to the ghost taking on physical form, although investigators also claim the spirit is manifesting when it’s making a noise, moving an object, touching someone, etc.
When a paranormal investigator asks a ghost or spirit to show itself, they are essentially asking it to manifest into a shape that they can perceive with their own eyes. That shape can be translucent shape, a barely visible mist, or a lifelike form often referred to as a full-body apparition.
This lines up well with the Webster’s Dictionary definition for “manifest”, which in verb form, is “to make evident or certain by showing or displaying”.
Witnessing a full-bodied ghost manifestation is a rare occurrence. Many ghost hunters who conduct paranormal investigations on a regular basis, never get to see a full-body apparition. Documented evidence regarding any sort of human-shaped anomaly is hard to come by. Most spirits don’t decide to manifest or magically appear just because a paranormal investigator commanded them to do so.
It’s more likely that a spirit will show itself when it decides to. This would explain why people who aren’t actively engaged in an investigation report seeing apparitions. They just happened to be in the right place at the right time.
