It is said that residual hauntings tend to be more common than intelligent hauntings. A residual haunting is thought to be a psychic impression that plays itself over and over again, much like a recording. Investigators believe that at some point in time, an event of significance occurred which left behind energy or an emotional imprint. It’s as if the event was trapped in time.
Some paranormal researchers also believe that energy can be stored in limestone or mineral deposits. If there is limestone underground or nearby, it may help provide the energy necessary for playback in a residual haunting.
